SAN DIEGO, Calif. – February 22, 2010 – EDSA (www.edsa.com), the leading developer of power analytics solutions for the design, testing, and management of complex electrical power systems, today named Ken Wood to its newly-created position of Business Executive overseeing its Paladin SmartGrid operations. Mr. Wood reports directly to EDSA’s Chairman and CEO, Mark A. Ascolese.
Mr. Wood joins EDSA with more than 15 years of global business development, strategic marketing and sales management expertise in electronic energy and power management solutions for industrial and commercial applications. He has held a wide range of management, operations, and field responsibilities working for and with industry leaders such as Eaton, IBM, Intersil, and others. Mr. Wood received his Executive MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School; an MS/Electrical Engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute; and a BS/Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
“Ken joins EDSA with an exceptional track record for bringing elegant new technologies and practical customer solutions together,” said Mark A. Ascolese, Chairman and CEO of EDSA. “He will play a vital role in leading EDSA’s power analytics solutions and driving new technologies as the smart grid industry evolves from the R&D phase to the commercial phase.”
A leader in the mainstream power systems software industry for more than 20 years, EDSA has enjoyed remarkable success in the smart grid arena:
• It introduced its Paladin® SmartGrid™ product – a “master controller” enabling the use of on-premise and distributed energy sources such as solar, wind, or local co-generation without jeopardizing the reliability of the legacy utility grid – earlier this year.
• Paladin SmartGrid is now nearing final testing at an undisclosed customer site, and is scheduled to be commercially released by the second quarter of 2010…far ahead of the “3 to 5-year” timeline that industry experts envisioned such vital technology becoming available.
• Chief Technology Officer Kevin Meagher was named to GreenTech Media’s List of “100 People You Must Know in Smart Grid,” joining luminaries from leading corporations, research organizations, utilities, and government across North America respected for their thought leadership in the smart grid arena.
