EDSA, Eaton Announce Joint Technology,Marketing, and Sales Agreement

ORLANDO, Fla. – June 6, 2006 –EDSA Micro Corporation and Eaton Electrical, Inc. – two prominent figures in the electrical power systems industry – today announced that the two companies have entered into a collaboration to develop and introduce the next generation of intelligent electrical power diagnostics systems.

The announcement was made at the Spring 7x24 Exchange Conference, which focuses on mission-critical computing infrastructures.  Under the agreement, which takes effect immediately, the two companies announced that:

  1.EDSA is using Eaton’s Foreseer® software solutions as the data acquisition engine for its Paladin® real-time power system analytics platform
  2.Eaton is offering Paladin® as an upgrade for existing Foreseer® customers

EDSA’s new Paladin® Live™ also announced today, is the only power system analytics software platform that gives users a past, present, and future view of the health status of their power infrastructure.  Used in conjunction Eaton products, it supports:

Past - All system-wide historical data – not limited to those values specified by the user when the system was launched – are recorded and stored by Foreseer® for ad hoc retrieval and analysis.  This allows Paladin® Live™ to conduct post-mortem analysis of system anomalies, based upon all data, not just values being tracked.

Present - Paladin® Live™ continually assesses the real-time overall “health” of equipment and systems, and then makes recommendations – or, can take actions directly – to address any predicted vulnerabilities.  The software can also be used to simulate major repair or upgrade events before they occur to minimize the chance of coordination problems or human error.

Future - When conditions begin to emerge that could indicate a longer-term power problem, Paladin® Live™ immediately begins checking surrounding data to identify and isolate potential faults.  This allows Paladin® Live™ to maintain a thorough understanding of how all future system modifications could impact downstream reliability, availability, capacity, and configurability.

Eaton’s FORESEER® Enterprise Management Systems monitor and proactively manage enterprise-wide mission-critical infrastructure equipment, including thousands of power, environmental, and life/safety devices by:

  1.Turning data into knowledge to help expedite decision-making in a global enterprise. Their ability to collect and quickly analyze data turns information into actionable knowledge;
  2.Providing distributed, scalable architectures tailored to organizational needs. Users can manage the entire company’s infrastructure from a single location or from a redundant disaster recovery location;
  3.Delivering dependable trend analysis, forecasting, modeling, and analysis tools allow for proactive management and monitoring as well as performance reports.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with Eaton to integrate our Paladin® platform with Eaton’s FORESEER® Enterprise Management Systems,” said Adib Nasle, president of EDSA.  “This is a very significant milestone for our mutual customers, as it will give the Eaton engineering services team the ability to not only remotely monitor and manage their electrical infrastructure, but to preemptively diagnose potential problems the instant “actual” conditions begin to deviate from their “as-designed” state.  This could, potentially, help customer save billion of dollars in damages caused by electrical power problems.”

“The functionality of Paladin® Live™ is one important example of how expert applications can be placed into our   software packages to improve the operations of mission critical operations” said Mike Longman, Vice President of Marketing and PowerChain Management Solutions for Eaton’s electrical group.  “Advanced diagnostic systems, like the combination of Paladin® and Eaton’s software, can greatly enhance the reliability of our customers’ electrical systems”.
